Honey goodness

Starbucks Honey LatteI didn't like eating when I was a kid. My folks had to coax me with favorite foods, and a regular winner was honey. A small spoonful, poured over toast or a pancake. Or honey and peanut butter.

I still dig its golden goodness and got hooked on Starbucks' honey lattes when I was in Florida last month. Coffee + honey = who knew? Yum. Total comfort food for a former honey kid.

Now if only I could re-embrace my dislike of food in general... heh.

Career paths

Untwittered

Untwittered - twitter.com

After a long pause I decided to try Twitter again today. It was one tweet too many.

I got in later and will give it a week to take hold. Or not.

I hate to say I told you so...

Hm... actually, I kind of enjoy it. Rock on, Cookie!

Archie or Die

David Cook and the other DavidThat's an actual TXT I received from a so-called friend who taunts my love for Cookie's music.

But hecklers beware: David Cook's likely to win tomorrow.

And if he doesn't, it's potentially an even bigger win: No immediate contract with a specified promoter, doing what the promoter says, when and where the promoter says to do whatever American Idols do.

It's a win-win situation. So there.

My summer movies

The Happening - Movie PosterThe artistic designs and stories captured by movie posters are part of the season's entertainment. Trailers too.

The 2008 schedule is packed tight with expected blockbusters, and I'm about 60/40 with theater-worthy and DVD/cablers.

Firstshowing.net has a great rundown of upcoming releases.

Using their poster collection, I created a mini-gallery of the movies I most look forward to.

What do these choices say about my movie taste?

Seven deadly Gummi sins

Gummi sins - Envy
Hello, envy! And Wiedmaier. (Even if these are 4 years old.)

I feel the need to curse.

Sign language - "asshole"Rather than spout obscenities, I surfed for a little creative venting.

The image to the left is "asshole" in sign language. Now you can one-up the bird-flippers. You're welcome.

The great Internet swear word project: Choose your favorites. (Most you'll recognize from junior high).

Wear it on your sleeve: Foul-Mouthed Shirts. Blah. T-Shirt Hell is funnier - it's where all the bad shirts go. Heh.

Piggish Latin: Ancient vulgarities just didn't pack a punch.

Google nets 750K results for "creative cursing" - have fun. I'm so friggen over this. For tonight, anyway.

I haven't joined a race yet, but it looks fun. In an i-geeky way.

Rainy days and haze

Rain dropI'm recouping from one of those up-all-night bugs, with a sore throat and the sniffles thrown into the mix. This morning I felt like someone had been beating me up all night. The rainy weather between Sunday and today was a perfect compliment. I haven't seen such a steady, strong rain for years. The mostly-dry creek off the backyard is now a roaring river, but it's no threat to the house.

Tomorrow I start the work week a day behind. Excellent.

Paint by numbers

Tips for nail painting
Just in case it wasn't obvious, the bottle of Opi top coat I bought last week included instructions. Plus, the pamphlet was in three different languages to bring nail painting to the masses. Brilliant.

Idol - is it just me?

David Archuleta has a nice voice. For a nasally seventeen-year-old who sounds the same on every-single-song and never breaks out of his comfort zone. Yawn.

Predictably, the judges were mad for Archie tonight. Especially Randy. And while he was the best of the first set, it wasn't a stretch: Jason was a disaster, Cook was off his game, and Syesha was auditioning for Broadway again.

Don't worry, David Cook - the entire show was off tonight, not just you. But way to blow rock-n-roll week, guy.

Shake, rattle and roll

VA earthquake - May 6, 2008
Left Coasters wouldn't blink over a magnitude 1.8 quake, but our little shaker was all over the DC news tonight.

If the quake was felt out in the grasslands of Dulles, I missed it. Or I felt the rumble, assumed it was a plane, and it didn't register. Either way I wasn't a part of the story.

I love the world

Discovery.com - I love the world ad

A friend told me about this ad for the Discovery networks. I never caught it on TV but found it on YouTube. It's worth a watch.
