Dark country roads
My friends live out in the sticks of Northern Virginia. Really beautiful country during the day, rolling hills and lots of space between neighbors. However, driving home Saturday night I was surprised by how dark and isolated the ride was. It wasn't quite horror movie creepy but that would have changed pretty damned quick if my car had broken down.
I drank coffee while I was there, something I shouldn't do after 2 pm if I want to sleep. The caffeine surely added to the atmosphere of the ride.
Scott and I noticed the darkness driving back at night a couple of months ago but you don't really feel it driving with someone else.
The ride was odd but the evening itself was good and when I got home I put my coffee-induced insomnia to good use and took two hours to reload my iPod.
